It’s been 5 months since Israel started their reckless killings in Gaza.
More than 31,000 people have died in Gaza. Children and women are the most among them. They killed 158 sportspersons. Among them, 91 are footballers. And Mohammed Barakat was one of them. They have destroyed 22 sports facilities and detained 5 sportspersons
Mohammed Barakat was 39 years old. He was a very successful forward being the first player of Gaza to score at least 100 goals for a club. He did this by the side of Shabab Khan Younis. Besides playing in this club, he had played for Saudi and Jordan clubs. He was known as “The Lion” to his teammates. He had played for the Palestine National Team 3 times. He also played for Palestine Beach Football team and scored 4 goals in Asian Beach Games. He won a Bronze medal in that tournament. He was playing for Ahli Gaza in the Gaza Strip Premier League 2023/24 season and scored his very last goal in August. He started his career with Shabab Khan Younis Club in 2015.
The Palestine Football Federation said that Mohammed Barakat had died in the 1st Ramadan. He died in his home in Khan Younis, Southern Gaza.
